PILGRIM UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST was founded in 1834.
Our sanctuary is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as
the oldest church in continuous use in Summit County and is a
classical example of Greek revival architecture.
THE WEDDING SERVICE of the United Church of Christ is simple
and dignified. In the plainest form, it takes about 20 minutes. The
minister will discuss the service with you in detail and will work with
you to design a service especially for you.
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP IS NOT REQUIRED to be married at
Pilgrim United Church of Christ. All that is needed is a sincere desire
to make sacred vows before God. Previous marriages and divorces
will not prevent your marriage here.
AT PILGRIM UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST we care about
simplicity, sincerity, and integrity of commitment.
AFTER THE WEDDING we are unable to release helium balloons or
the throwing of rice and birdseed.
OUTSIDE WEDDINGS in parks or homes can be arranged.
PREMARITAL COUNSELING for all couples takes place with the
minister three times prior to the wedding.
Some specific suggestions for your wedding:
Sanctuary decorations should be in keeping with the simplicity
of the church and the sacred rite of marriage. Candles and
flowers are permitted, but nothing may be stapled or nailed to
the pews.
Photographs with a flash may be taken before and after the
service and scenes may be re-enacted later for photos.
Music is your choice, in consultations with the minister, and
we recommend music that has special meaning and is an
inspiration to you.
Rehearsal will be the evening before the wedding. The church
organist need not be present; however, it’s a good idea for
outside musicians to be present along with the entire wedding
party.
A Wedding Coordinator is available through Pilgrim United
Church of Christ to help the bridal party prepare on the
wedding day and to coordinate the participants as the service
begins.
Another pastor or priest may also assist in your ceremony, if
you wish.

A $200 deposit is made when you secure a date on the church calendar
and all remaining fees are to be paid by the rehearsal.
The social hall and kitchen are available for a reception for $150.00.
Alcoholic beverages of any kind are not permitted.
There are 16 roundtables and 8 eight foot rectangle tables, each seating
eight to ten people.
The sanctuary seats 200, the carpet is red, there are 11 rows of pews
on each side. The center aisle is 40 feet long.
