Greetings from Pastor Kirk

My dictionary defines church and worship in these ways:

Church\n 1: a building for public and especially Christian worship 2a: a
body or organization of religious believers.

Worship\n 1: reverence offered a divine being or supernatural power;
also: the expression of such reverence.

I think the writers of my dictionary missed the boat.

The church is a living community of people who share life together in
their struggles and triumphs.  A church is a community of people who
don’t stop being real people just because they enter the church
building.  But they choose to work together and live in harmony with
each other even when they have differing thoughts.

Worship is intentionally putting ourselves into the presence of God and
one another.  We can pray to God while we are all alone, but when we
come together, we are more than we are individually.  Think of how a
fire burns.  Each log both receives warmth from the other logs in the
fire, and gives warmth.  If you were to separate them the fire would
quickly die out.

We gather to share time together as a community of people in God,
because in doing so our lives are made better: we discover a hope,
and strength and purpose and peace and power that we would not
otherwise know.

I would like to invite you to join us and discover the joy of worshipping
God of at Pilgrim Church.  Come and be warmed by the Spirit and
friendships we share in community, as we journey together through
life, in God.

Shalom,

Pastor Kirk
